The role of stewards have been around since the Eighteenth Century when John Wesley recognised that ministers, because of the itinerant nature of their role moving from church to church, were often unable to oversee every matter in church life. And so, the role is tightly woven into the DNA of the Methodist Connexion.

Today, church stewards are responsible for practical things, such as looking after local preachers who are visiting their church, making sure the offering is taken and announcements are made, and running events and fundraisers. The church stewards along with church officers and the leadership team focus on fostering unity within the church and ‘talent spotting’ those with potential, encouraging them to become involved in leadership roles. They keep the church running smoothly and also make sure that any new policies made by the Circuit and District Synod and the Church Council are communicated to their congregation, and ensure that decisions are upheld and acted upon.

Church Council

The church stewards, church officers and the leadership team, along with other members of the Church, make up the Frodsham Methodist Church Council, which is the official decision-making body in the local church. Members are appointed at the Annual Church Meeting, that is normally held around May each year.

Worship Leaders

Worship Leaders are church members who have been appointed to lead worship in their local church, following a course of accredited training by the Methodist Church. They run occasional services and, along with other members, participate in worship, preparing audio-visual materials, taking part in drama, leading prayers and reading from the Bible.

The Church Magazine is produced quarterly to fall in with the four seasons.  Our magazine can be read online here.
